FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

Fruits is the corpulent, fully figured , dry ripened wall that develops into the ripening of fruits of a flowing plant which surrounds or envelopes a seed or seeds into a sweet, succulent or pulpy fruit.
Fruits are the matured wall with its related parts containing seeds which developed from enclosed surrounding after fertilization.
These are important parts of a consumption (dietary) fibre which contains vitamin C that helps reduce and fight antioxidants.
Fresh fruits are subject to spoilage while their shelf life can be extended by refrigerating or removal of air (oxygen) from their storage and packaging container.
Preservation of fruits occurrs through dehydration, fermentation and processing brine ( water saturated or strongly impregnated with salt and water solution for pickling).
There are various drugs that comes from fruits i.e morphines from the fruits of the opium poppy.
The concept of fruit is based on irregular or unusual element of practical and theoretical process which accommodates the way flowers gives rise to several fruits and ways in which several flowers cooperate in producing one fruit.
Most fruits develop from a single discrete organ which is in the centre of a flower capable of receiving pollen and producing fruits.
Cultivated varieties of fruits and naturally produced fruits in the absence of pollination and fermentation which leads to seedless fruits. E.g Acorns, Almonds Apricots, Banana, Beans pods, Corn Grains, Cucumber, Grapes, Oranges, Pepper and Tomatoes.

There are two broad categories of fruits
FLESHY FRUITS
These are fruits whose pericarps and accessory parts develop into succulent tissue. E.g Eggplant, oranges, strawberries and dry fruits.(the entire pericarp becomes d’etat maturity).
BERRIES
These are fruits which ensures that it’s pericarps and accessory parts are succulent tissues. E.g Blueberries, Cherie’s and Tomatoes.
AGGREGATE FRUITS
Blackberries and Strawberries.
MULTIPLE FRUITS
These fruits develop from nature ovaries of entire inflorescence E.g Mulberries, Pineapples.
DRY FRUITS
Capsulatte Fruits
Cereal Grains
Legumes
Nuts.

Fruits are essential to human body as they ease dehydration, digestion and revitalise the body.
There are varying kind of fruits according to their nutrients, benefits and vitamins to the body.
It’s also proven that little quantity or amounts of foods and fruits must be consumed.
Humans must find the most appropriate kind of fruit which is essential to their body.
There are fruits markets according to each region or environment and the way it’s grown varies.
Fruits are meant to be preserved in a way it will be good for consumption.
Preservatives is not to be added to natural Fruits to enable development of the fruit I. Make it ripe after being harvested. E.g added to Banana.
FOOD HYGIENE
Dust and Diets harbour viruses, bacterias, spores and resistant cells.
All dust and dirts must be prevented from coming in contact with our food.
Dirty hands contaminate cooking and eating utensils.
Bacterias will cause food to decay , fungi cause food to rot or mould, insects makes food unfit for humans to eat with their droppings.
These organisms can also give diseases.
Diseases which are spread in food include dysentery (bacteria, and amoebic), cholera, poliomyelitis, tapeworm, thyphoid and tuberculosis.
It’s of vital importance to the good health of every individual that the food being consumed is well preserved.
There are many ways in which food can be preserved
1. Heat Sterilization.
2. Freezing or Cold Storage
Food spoiling organism are all affected by temperature.
The lower the temperature, the less effective they are.
3. Drying completely dry food will stay fresh.
4. CHEMICAL PRESERVING
Certain chemicals such as sulphur dioxide and Benzonic acid will prevent bacteria activity.
The context of the way and manner in which fruits are being preserved in Nigeria Market us alarming.
Fruits are sold in major parts of the country not excluding the streets, markets, schools eateries and everywhere people assemble or converge for relaxation.
The mode of preservation is thus not compomising.
It’s subject to contamination, poisonous and risk of contracting bacterias and diseases which could be harmful to human health or also assist in the present prevailing health condition of the individual in which the purpose of consuming the fruit will thus not be fully achieved.
Fruits that are obsolete i.e Bad or out of consumption level, taste and not suitable for consumption are sold to the general public who are unaware of the kind or type of fruits that are shed on the stalls or trays in the market place or open market for them.
Fruits are quickly disassembled so as not to lose much of their profits as most are nearing spoilage.
These fruits are easily cut out and shed on the stalls in open air while eliminating the bad parts and sold at cheap prices for those who are willing to consume them as a result of shortage of funds.

Fruits which are also thrown aside for onward loading into refuse dumps are picked by some or purchased directly from the stalls of the market owners at cheaper prices so as to make little resources and not loose all.
Fruits are at times picked by the carrier boys who are meant to dispose them and resell them by cutting off the bad parts.
These fruits are sold at the market places at night to unsuspecting victims or individuals.
It’s also to be adduced that fruits which are unknown to the consumer and unsuspecting public are also sold in whole in the market areas.
These fruits are cut into halves with the top body eliminated or easily juiced to individuals who do not know how fruit juice are made.
Fruits in this categories are Apples carrots, cucumber, graoes oranges, pears, , vegetables and watermelon.
WATERMELON
This fruit is a refreshing with low calorie and also sweet.
It provides dehydration and essential nutrients including vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
It’s a member of cucurbitaceae family.
There are four common types of watermelon
1. Seeded
2. Seedless
3. Mini
4. Yellow
5. Orange
BENEFITS
This is a fruit that constitute almost 90% of its nutrients in water which is useful for relieving or staying hydrated during hot weather or season.
It’s also known for its tooth satisfying with it’s natural sugar.
The fruit is also known for contacting antioxidants which assist in removing molecules refereed as free radicals, reactive species.
FREE. RADICALS
Free radicals occur during metabolism which also develop through smoking, Air pollution, stress,and environmental pressures.
The existence of free radicals in the body results in oxidative stress which can damage cells and lead to range of diseases . E.g cancer and Heart diseases.

Watermelon also has natural diuretic but is not going to cause loss of body fat.

IRINA SLAVINA
Russian Journalist Irina Slavina set herself on #Fire on Friday in front of Russia’s local branch of its interior Ministry in Nizhny Novgorod after a search on her apartment by Russia’s police
Irina Slavina quoted “I ask you to blame Russian Federation for my death”.

Irina Slavina was an editor in chief at a small local news outlet which advertised itself as “No censorship, “no orders”, “from above” at Liza press.
According to Irina before her demise, she wrote on her Facebook that her flat was being searched by police Officers and Investigator who are looking for “brochures, “leaflets and “accounts” by Russia’s open opposition group.
Irina stated that her notebooks, laptops and electronics were seized which did not exclude her daughter’s laptop and husband’s mobile phone.
