LAGOS: MEDICAL DOCTOR DIES OF CORONAVIRUS

AFRICAN MEDICAL DOCTORS WHO LOST THEIR LIVRES TO CORONAVIRUS

A 51 years old medical doctor has been struck dead by coronavirus at a private hospital in Lagos.

The medical doctor who attempted to manage the patient was struck dead by the virus.

He is the Second health worker to have died from the virus in Nigeria while attempting to save the patient’s life.

He is also the second medical doctor to die of the disease after his Katsina state counterpart who also died recently.

The medical doctor after being rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) , Idi Arabs died on Wednesday.

BANK VERIFICATION NUMBER: EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND PAYMENT

The National Leader of the domineering party in Nigerua, Bola Ahmed Tinubu urging the Federal government to make the proposed cash payment to household through Bank Verification Numbers.

The advise was given in Lagos by the National Party Leader on Wednesday in a statement which he made in order to cushion the effect of Covid 19 pandemic in the country.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated that the use of the BVN is the safest means which will also eliminate violence and crime that may occur as a result of physical cash payment.

MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S: BRIEFING TO NIGERIANS ON COVID 19

REASONS FOR EXTENSION OF LOCKDOWN BY ADDITIONAL 14 DAYS

President Muhammadu Buhari made a welcome address to the citizens of Federal Republic Of Nigerua.

The President further eulogies the states with the highest pandemic in the country Abuja, Lagos and Ogun for compiling with the locking since 31st March 2020.

He also admonished that it was a difficult situation for the citizens which has resulted into hardship.

P.M.B further stated that certain measures are needed to stop the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The President also recognised the support of traditional rulers, media houses and other prominent citizens

Muhammadu Buhari said the Federal Government is concerned about the increase in the number of confirmed cases and death which is being recorded across the globe and Nigerua.

He further supported his point that on 30 March 2020, when the lockdown started in conformity with medical and certificate wise, the total number of confirmed cases across the world is over 787 million.

As at 13 April 2020, the number of confirmed Covid 19 cases globally is over 1,857,000 million and the figure more than double in 14days.

Also, in the last 14days, over 70,000 have died due to the disease and that the health system of most developed nations are overwhelming by the virus.

President Buhari stated that in Nigerua,131 confirmed cases of Covid 19 in 12 states were recorded on 30th Marchand that as at today, the number has increased to 323 in 20 states.

The President regretted the unfortunate loss of lived which arose out of the pandemic totalling 20 in number in Lagos state.

The NCDC informed him of a large proportion of immune infection occuring in the local communities through person to person contact.

The President noted that this is the reason for extention of the quarantine by additional 14 days.

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION: SCHOOLS RESUMPTION DATE INDEFINITE

Nigeria’s Ministry of Education has announced indefinitely the resumption of school activities as a result of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The Ministry’s Director Of press Ben Going made the comment while discrediting the rumours making waves that the Federal Government had ordered reopening of schools in the country.

Parents, Students and the General Public have been advised to disregard the fake information.

KATSINA: SUSPENSION OF JUMAT SERVICE LIFTED

Katsina State Government lifted the suspension of Friday Jumat Service which is a normal religious practice across the country.

The suspension was for a duration in order to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari lifted the suspension.

President Muhammadu Buhari had placed a ban on religious gathering and meetings of more than 20 individuals as it preaches against social distancing across the country.

Following a meeting held today between the Katsina State government, religious leaders, traditional rulers and security agents to review measures taken by the government to prevent spread of Covid 19 in the state”.

The Jumat services is to be conducted under strict rules, stipulated health and security guidelines.

“The Jumat is meant to avoid prolonged sermons and make the prayers btief..

People are also strongly advised to maintain social distancing and adhere strictly to all the rules and regulations provided by health experts in preventing Covid 19 he said.

The Katsina government had banned religious gathering two weeks ago.

An imam was arrested shortly after for flouting the directive and this caused youths in the state to rampage, attack and burn down a police station.

FIRE OUTBREAK AT ABUJA.


NIGERIA TRESSURY HOUSE WENT UP IN FLAMES

The Office of the Accountant General Of the Federation was in flames hours ago.

The cause of the fire which started at about 10am is still unknown.

The Treasury Building as it is being referred “TREASURY HOUSE” is located beside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in Garlic District, Abuja.

The incidence was curtailed with the assistance of the Federal Fire Service in collaboration by National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Police Force and Abuja Environmental Protection Board.

585 NORTH AMERICANS EVACUATED FROM NIGERIA VIA ETHIOPIAN AIRLINE

The United State Of America and Canada who are both North Americans evacuated 585 individuals from Nigeria with separate Ethiopian Airline flight from the Muritala Muhammed Airport today.

385 Americans were evacuated on board a Boeing 737 – 300 series enroute Washington DC.

The Canadians who were 200 in total with 137 airlifted from Lagos and 63 from Abuja.

They were evacuated by Ethiopian Airline Boeing 767 flight ET 8201.

The Ethiopian flight which airlifted the Canadians had 11 crew after completion of the normal airport procedures.

The Evacuees boarded the ET flight to Abuja to pick their counterparts and departed Abuja to Addis Ababa Ethiopia enroute Toronto Canada.

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S NATIONAL BROADCAST ON COVID 19

The president of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria made his first broadcast on COVID 19 since the emergence of the disease.

He stated that the first confirmed case of COVID 19 emerged in the country on February 28th 2020.

The president stated further that covid 19 increased from one individual to 97persons by 29th of March 3029.

Former employee of PPMC in respect of Suleiman Achimugu who was the Ex Managing Director Of Pipelines and Product Marketing Company which is a Subsidiary of NNPC was the first confirmed case which has resulted in his death on 27th of March 2020.

He returned from the United Kingdom 2weeks ago and died of the disease at the age of 67.

The president further reiterated that Covid 19 has no cure.

President Muhammadu Buhari further stated the need for Social Distancing among the development that is meant to fight the pandemic.

He further stated that it is pertinent for individuals to adhere strictly to washing and disinfecting of their hands and also adhering to the rules and guidelines of Nigeruan Ccentre For Disease Control.

The Director General of NCDC and WHO Committee Chairman. implemented numerous strategies.

The implementation is to include

∆ Supporting the Ministry Of Health as well as it’s own body NCDC which is being lead by the Presidential Task Force.

∆ Measures to curtail the spread of COVID 19.

∆ Ensuring to livelihood of its Citizens.

∆ Health Care Measures being devised may inconvenience the citizens but it’s sacrifice is for the greater growth of the country amidst unfolding situations that may arise or be arising from Covid 19

President Muhammadu Buhari further that Lagos and Abuja has drastically contained the spread of COVID 19 in their best ways.

The President further announced the donation of Fifteen Billion Naira to the Governor of Lagos state over Covid 19.

President Muhammadu Buhari further stated the duties of the presidential taskforce which includes

∆ The states has the right to support the manpower being laid down in order to curtail the spread of the disease.

∆ Lockdown of Abuja, Lagos, and Ogun States for 2weeks and advising the citizens to adhere by staying at home.

∆ The President also stated that businesses and Offices are to closed for these duration likewise.

It was also noted by the President that movement will be restricted to these 3states starting from 11pm on the 30th of March 2020 to 13th of April 2020.

All businesses and Offices operating in these states are to remain closed during the duration.

President Muhammadu Buhari further stated that Broadcasters, Communicators, Health care services are thus exempted from the lockdown.

It was further noted by the President that all vehicles conveying food items to these states will be thoroughly scrutinized from various parts of the country before they are allowed entry into the States.

Commercial and Private Jets have also been suspended.

The President thus regret any hardship or inconvenience these measures may cause.

President Muhammadu Buhari advised the Ministry Of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Department which is being head by Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farooq to sustain school programmes without affecting social distancing.
